Teaching method

STUDENT-CENTRED APPROACH

Student-centredness is the foundation of Suvi’s teaching method. She supports her students in finding their individual paths of learning. Suvi also encourages her students to develop their own style of playing and improvising.

LEARNING BY EAR

Playing and learning by ear is at the very heart of Suvi’s teaching method. Learning by ear reinforces the skills of listening, theory and analysing as well as the playing of one’s own instrument.

RELAXED PLAYING

Playing should be as pleasant and holistic as singing. The best playing posture is achieved by allowing the body to work in a balanced way. In her classes, Suvi guides her students in exercises to a relaxed playing posture as well as violin techniques.

“Suvi is a dedicated and holistic teacher with a twinkle in her eye. She finds a pedagogical approach that takes everyone's specificities into account."
